A GUIDE TO THE GOSPEL
For five weeks, we’ll ride a spaceship to the sky, and from that vantage point, get a macro-view of the four Gospels—Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
Two warnings before we dive into the series:
First: The talks will be more cerebral. Some people assume that faith means throwing away their brain. Nope. God gave each one of us a mind so that we can understand our faith.
Second: After this series, our hope is that you’ll have more questions than answers. Some people feel guilty when they have questions because they think that means they have doubts—and for them, doubts are bad. But guess what? Doubts are needed to deepen our faith.
Have an amazing series.
Talk 1: Gospel
The first talk is about the Gospel according to Mark. Mark, the first one to have ever been written (Not Matthew), starts off by saying in verse one, The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. (Mark 1:1 NKJV) A few chapters later, he’d say, And the gospel must first be preached to all nations. (Mark 13:10 NIV)

Talk 3: Matthew

Talk 3 is about the Gospel of Matthew. Like most abusive tax collectors, Matthew was hated by the Jews.
But Jesus called Matthew, loved him, and made him his Apostle. The former outcast became a Gospel writer.a

Talk 4: Luke
You’re made for bigger things.” In Talk 2, the message is similar: “God has bigger plans.” In Talk 3, the big message is, “God is doing something new!” In Talk 4, the big message is “God is chasing you.” Talk 4 is about the Gospel of Luke.
For Luke, the prophecy from Isaiah was His mission statement: “To proclaim Good News to the Poor.”
